Altrusa International Inc. of Northeast Connecticut awards grants to non-profit organizations in Northeast Connecticut
The Service Committee of Altrusa of NE CT is now soliciting grant proposals for its 2017 - 2018 granting season. Applications are due by Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the latest and are welcome at any time before that. The application can be found on the website, altrusanect.org.
Completed applications should be emailed to: email@example.com from which they will be forwarded to committee members.
A signed hard copy should then be sent to:
Service Committee Chair Susan Ulino
135 Whites Hill Road
Any organization that is applying for the first time should submit copies of its 501c(3) status award letter. An organization requesting continued funding should submit the required report with this year's proposal unless the report has already been submitted.
Required accompanying documentation is listed on the application.
Altrusa makes grants to 501c(3) and municipal organizations (such as programs within schools) where the funding will directly benefit the applying program's service recipients.
The organization seeking Altrusa funding should be located in NE Connecticut. Preference is given to programs where the lack of other funding can threaten the program's viability. Worthy, but well funded, programs, as well as programs with the capability of raising adequate funds, are not priorities. Historically, Altrusa of NE CT has favored funding to agencies and programs that provide basic services to people in need. Altrusa's grants, usually in the $300 to $2,000 range, are awarded for concrete client needs, new programs, enhancement of physical plants, etc. Altrusa does not fund operating costs.
This year's granting sequence is as follows: Applications are due by January 10, 2018. The Service Committee members will meet to discuss each application, having reviewed each one prior to the meeting. Recommendations for funding will be brought to the Executive Committee and to the Altrusa of NE CT membership. Once the membership has approved the recommendations, awards will be announced and fund disbursement will occur.
